MODITLO MORIA 160

Moditlo Private Game Reserve, Hoedspruit, Mpumalanga, South Africa

A holiday house outside Hoedspruit, near the Kruger National Park. The design has a thick rammed-earth wall that runs the length of the house and is tilted just off the north-south axis to catch the prevailing wind to passively cool the house, avoiding unnecessary air-conditioning. 

 

An ecopool wraps around outdoor lounge and dining terraces creating a natural barrier from potentially threatening wildlife in the big 5 reserve. 

 

The roof kicks-up with large overhangs that gesture to distant views of the Klein Drakensberg Mountains to the west.
